Welcome to the Fox & Hounds, Christmas Common

There has been a public house/Inn in the current location dating back to the 17th-century. The Fox & Hounds has always been the centre of the village and up to the late 1950’s the current car park was the village pond. Our country pub is nestled in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, an area of outstanding natural beauty perfect for walking, cycling or just enjoying the beautiful countryside.

Our pub, established in 17th century, has been a beacon of hospitality for weary travellers and local patrons alike. As you step through our low, wooden doorways, you cannot help but notice the original timber beams and traditional stone floors.

In the cooler months you will be met by the warmth of a crackling fire in the bar, the best open fire for miles. In the summer you can enjoy dining and a beverage or two in the large garden. We have ample parking and are able to accommodate those with limited mobility with our facilities all being on one level.

Indulge in our selection of Brakspear ale, Guinness, Cider and Lagers drawn up from the original cellar. We also have a comprehensive wine list to cover all tastes including a Sparkling Wine from a local vineyard just 3.3 miles away located in the Stonor Valley - Hundred Hills.

In our barn style restaurant and smaller side rooms off the bar area you will be able to savour the taste of our traditional dishes, prepared with the freshest ingredients. Our menus offer options to meet the needs of Vegans, Vegetarians and those who are required to follow a gluten free diet.

We invite you to join us for a journey back in time, where the spirit of the 17th century lives on in the laughter, conversation, and camaraderie that fill our beloved pub.

The Fox & Hounds —where history, hospitality, and heart warming memories are always on tap.
